Known for her haunting, raw voice and her ability to turn the personal into something universal, French artist Soko has always followed her own path. Before the world knew her as a singer, she was already making a name for herself in French cinema. Acting gave her the confidence to express herself fully, but it wasn’t until her debut album I Thought I Was an Alien (2012) that her true voice as a musician emerged. A delicate mix of indie pop and melancholic storytelling, her music is always tinged with a dose of rebellion, introducing a fearless artist unafraid of exploring love, loneliness, and identity through a raw and almost confessional lens. Outside of music, she is outspoken about issues like mental health, feminism, and LGBTQ+ rights, using her platform to challenge norms and push boundaries. Her work remains an authentic expression of her unique voice in both music and life.
