Pascal Morand

A HEC Paris alumnus with a doctorate in Economics, Pascal Morand has a distinguished career that spans academia, public service and the fashion industry. Many schools have seeked him out for his teaching talents, including NEOMA Business School and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Passionate about the impact of globalisation on the textile and apparel industries, his research and publications have focused on innovation, design and the relationship between economy and culture. He released several books on these topics, including La victoire de Luther ; essai sur l’Union économique et monétaire (2001) and Les religions et le luxe : l’éthique de la richesse d’Orient en Occident (2012). Beyond his academic work, Morand has held several high-profile positions in the fashion and textile industries, such as Director of the Institut Français de la Mode (French Fashion Institute) from 1987 to 2006 and Director of the ESCP Business School. As the Deputy-Director-General of the Paris Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he became responsible for studies, public affairs and policy from 2013 to 2015. The following year saw him appointed as the Executive President of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, the governing body of the French fashion world, succeeding Stéphane Wargnier. In this role, he has been instrumental in shaping the direction of the industry, particularly in addressing the environmental impact of fashion. Regularly involved in the International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Accessories in Hyères, most recently in the 38th edition, he has always been advocating for the dialogue between fashion, art and music.
