Lorenzo Giusti, Ph.D., is a distinguished Italian art historian and curator, currently serving as the Director of GAMeC (Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea) in Bergamo. Originally trained at the universities of Florence, Paris VIII, and Siena, he earned his doctorate before launching a prolific career in art curation.
From 2012 to 2017, Giusti directed the MAN Museum in Nuoro, and has since curated major exhibitions worldwide, including retrospectives of Maria Lai and Regina Cassolo Bracchi, as well as projects for Art Dubai (2023), the Venice Biennale (2022), and the Biennale Gherdëina (2024). A vocal champion of the relationship between historical avant‑gardes and ecological concerns, he also spearheaded the digital platform Radio GAMeC in 2020, which UNESCO recognized among the most innovative museum initiatives during the pandemic.
Giusti’s expertise extends internationally: he joined international jury panels, curated sections at Artissima Turin, and served on teams for festivals in Vienna and Shenzhen. Beyond exhibitions, he is a passionate advocate for “thinking like a mountain,” a concept he has explored through lectures—such as at Istanbul Modern’s Museums Talk in early 2024.
With a rich blend of scholarly insight, curatorial innovation, and ecological awareness, Lorenzo Giusti continues to shape the contemporary art landscape both in Italy and internationally.
