Born on August 22nd, 1973, Laurent Lafitte’s journey to success began with his training at the Cours Florent and the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique in Paris. With a career spanning across various mediums, from television and film to theater, he made his debut in the early 1990s, appearing in shows like Premiers baisers (1992) and Classe mannequin (1993). His transition to the big screen came in 1998 with a guest role in the film Le plaisir (et ses petits tracas), directed by Nicolas Boukhrief. Over the years, Lafitte has collaborated with esteemed directors such as Mathieu Kassovitz, Guillaume Canet, Claude Miller, and Michel Gondry, establishing himself as a versatile and accomplished actor. His notable film credits include The Crimson Rivers (2000), Whatever You Say (2002), Elle (2016), and See You Up There (2017), for which he was nominated for the César Award for Best Supporting Actor. A Cannes Film Festival regular, he made his directorial debut with the film Dear Mother, which premiered at the festival, and he was back four years later as one of the main antagonists in the film The Count of Monte Cristo. In 2025, he was appointed Master of Ceremonies for the 78th Cannes Film Festival. In addition to his work in cinema, Lafitte is also an acclaimed theater performer in both classical and contemporary plays, having been a resident of the prestigious Comédie-Française for over a decade.
